The shift toward alternative fuels is becoming more prominent in India as the government pushes for greener automotive solutions. One such option that has caught the attention of eco-conscious buyers is the Tata Tigor CNG. Combining the advantages of compressed natural gas (CNG) with the practicality of a compact sedan, the Tata Tigor offers a reliable and fuel-efficient alternative to petrol vehicles. However, one of the primary considerations for potential buyers is the Tata Tigor CNG boot space. In this blog, we’ll explore how the CNG variant balances practicality with eco-friendliness.

What is Boot Space, and Why is it Important?

Boot space refers to the amount of storage capacity available in the trunk of a vehicle. For sedan buyers, boot space is crucial, especially for long trips or families that require ample room for luggage. The introduction of a CNG cylinder into the boot, however, often leads to a reduction in available space.

How Does the CNG Kit Affect Boot Space?

In the Tata Tigor CNG, a large part of the boot space is occupied by the CNG tank. Typically, the tank is installed horizontally, which leaves less room for luggage compared to the petrol or diesel versions of the Tigor. The original petrol variant of the Tigor offers around 419 liters of boot space, but with the CNG kit installed, this is reduced to approximately 205 liters. While this is a significant reduction, Tata Motors has managed to design the system in such a way that the remaining space is still functional for day-to-day use.

Practicality of the Tata Tigor CNG Boot Space

Despite the reduced Tata Tigor CNG boot space, the sedan still manages to offer reasonable practicality. For daily commuting or short trips, the available boot space is sufficient to carry small to medium-sized luggage. A couple of medium-sized suitcases or shopping bags can fit comfortably. However, for larger families planning long trips, the reduced boot space may require them to rethink their packing strategy or consider using a roof rack for extra storage.

Advantages of the Tata Tigor CNG

The primary reason people opt for the Tata Tigor CNG is its fuel efficiency and lower emissions. The car delivers significantly lower running costs compared to petrol variants, which is a major selling point. With the rising fuel prices, CNG vehicles like the Tigor offer an economical solution without compromising on performance.

Moreover, the Tigor CNG maintains a good balance between performance and eco-friendliness. It is powered by the same 1.2-liter petrol engine as the regular Tigor but with the added benefit of CNG compatibility
